Born in Cape Cod and a life-long resident of the Jersey Shore, Katy started her journalism career in high school writing for the Sentinel of Somers Point, Linwood and Northfield, a local weekly in N.J., as well as the Press of Atlantic City. Now a senior at the Missouri School of Journalism, Katy has since written for MU’s student newspaper, The Maneater, the Philadelphia City Paper as an art and entertainment intern, the Columbia Missourian as an education beat reporter and the Ellsworth American in Downeast Maine as a reporting intern.

She is currently an assistant city editor for the Columbia Missourian.

Katy believes Bruce Springsteen’s Thunder Road was written for her. When she is not writing, she swims for Mizzou Club Sports. Beginning at age 9, Katy was forced to partake in her family’s quest to hike the highest point of every state. Thirty-seven states and 11 years later she hopes to someday finish the feat.
